‘King of Ghanaian comedy’, Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as
DKB says it is permissible for men to cheat on their female partners.
According to him, because men are responsible for buying the woman
a wedding ring and also foot the bill for the wedding, it should not be
seen as wrong if they cheat on their wives.
“[Men can cheat] because we bought the wedding ring and we organised
the wedding and you bear our surname. Even the word bride means a cook,”
he said.
“When you find the man cheat[ing], you leave him to God because that
was what our mother and grandmothers did,” he said on the Joy FM’s
lifestyle and entertainment programme Rhythm A to Z Saturday.
Facebook was awashed with the news of Comedian Benson Ohene Oduro
Boateng popularly known as Funny Face’s divorce with his wife Elizabeth
Nana Adjoa Ntim, a lady he married in December 2014.
Even though he has kept tight-lip on the development, it got to the
public following a publication in a national daily. This compelled him
to go to his Facebook wall to confirm the news of the divorce.
“Just saw this…I guess you can’t light a candle and hide it under
your bed…Ppl will see the light…It’s been seven months ago…All I will
say is I TRIED IT JUST DIDN’T WORK,” he wrote.
Though many people have taken the comedian on for divorcing the wife, DKB believes no one has the right to lampoon the comedian.
He asserts matters of relationship are personal and should be seen by everyone as a no-go area.
Also contributing on the show was host of Joy FM’s Saturday Flash
Back programme, Uncle Ken, who said he will not join other Ghanaians to
condemn the comedian over his divorce.
“I will never mount the moral high grounds to deal with people’s marital relationship,” he said.
This he believes is an area he would want to “stay clear well away
from” considering no one has control over another’s marital affairs.
