Michael Anyiam-Osigwe was the Coordinator of the Anyiam-Osigwe Group
and Secretary to the Supervisory Board. He had a first degree in
Economics and then a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology and
Ethnomusicology from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
The Founder of the African Academy Movie Awards (AMAA) wards – Peace
Anyiam-Osigwe can’t just get over the sudden loss of her brother,
Michael, a year ago.
To further immortalise him, the lawyer cum filmmaker put pen to paper
and wrote a moving song in memory of her lost brother. The late
Michael, like Peace other brothers have on several occasions made
meaningful and invaluable interventions to keep the awards, now in its
twelfth year running. The AMAA’S story is incomplete without Michael in
the picture. The song, titled Chetagi written by Peace has been
performed by an up-coming artist, Edge, an initiative to drive and
encourage creative minds in the industry. The video is being put
together at the moment.
could be recalled that Michael was shot by armed robbers on Saturday,
November 29, 2015 on the Ore-Benin expressway. He was reportely rescued
alive from the scene of the robbery but later died in hospital.
