Dysmenorrhea is
described as acute abdominal pain (cramps, pangs, pains and so on) that
girls, ladies and women experience just before, during and after their monthly
menstrual period. Dysmenorrhea may come in form of cramps as a sign, just
before a lady’s menstruation, more commonly during the flow and/ or a day or
two after.

While irregular menstruation may be as a result of Infections, Hormonal changes, Side effect of Contraceptive pills, Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB), Growth in the womb/fibroid, Abortion, causes of Dysmenorrhea are still largely vague.
For First Aid attention to mild level Dysmenorrhea do the following:
Reduction of sugar intake before and
during menstruation.
Water, take up to 2.5ml daily (The more hydrated you are, the easier the circulation of blood)
Cold water compress placed on
lower abdomen. If the pain to persists, use hot/warm
compress.
Take analgesic.
Reduce or stop apprehension (fear can
lead to stooling, vomiting which are variants of menstrual pain)
Ladies,
when the pangs come stinging, please don’t ignore and say its one of
those things ladies have to bear. Severe menstrual pain can be as a
result of dangerous conditions. Go for pelvic scan today, as early
detection may forestall lethal damage.
