March is really a month
of celebrity birthdays. We brought you Pastor EA Adeboye’s 73rd birthday (HERE), Moji
Olaiya’s birthday (HERE), and now, today March 5th is the 78th birthday of former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
Former military head of
state, Muhammadu Buhari has rolled in his congratulatory message to Baba (as he
is fondly called).
Buhari in his message described Obasanjo as courageous man who is not afraid
of telling the truth.
We should not forget that Obasanjo had earlier endorsed
Buhari as the man for the presidential job come May 29, after he predicted his
grand-slide win of the 2015 polls.
Buhari further praised him by saying that he is a true nationalist whose commitment
to democracy and good governance are worthy of praise. He further mentioned
that though Obasanjo is a controversial politician, his patriotism to the
country is undeniable.
Meanwhile, Obasanjo and some of his friends were at the MKO stadium in Kuto Abeokuta Ogun state for a football competition to commemorate his birthday.
The match was between OBJ’s football team and Ogun State Executive Team which was led by the Ogun state governor-
Ibikunle Amosun.
OBJ’s team won
the game with 2 goals – both scored by Obasanjo.
Obasanjo on the game
said, “I am satisfied and fulfilled, even at my age I cherish sport, because it
is relevant to health and we should all endeavour to engage in sporting
activities”.
We wish OBJ a happy birthday.
